Limited access to clinical diagnostics, particularly at the primary care level, impedes the pursuit of universal health coverage. Although diagnostic information is required for high-quality provision of therapeutic care, diagnostics are chronically under-prioritized. The WHO Model List
of Essential Diagnostics was created to easily raise prioritization of diagnostics.
