Equitable access to safe, effective and affordable medicines and vaccines is key to primary care. Medicines are more easily available if they are dispensed closer to patients and if community pharmacies can be integrated into primary care services.
Consequently, the role of community pharmacies in delivering primary care services has been growing in many European countries.
But how can the integration of community pharmacies and primary care services be achieved? How do we involve patients, care-givers and communities in such developments? How can public financing be best used to support access to medicines in primary care?
